Barcroft and Parkefield Xa double fine of 10s8d whereas divers strifes disputes and discords are moved and had between Jn Farthing and Eliz his wife cousin and next heir of Simon Lingwood deceased and Nich Cherche cousin and next heir of Agnes Rogers daughter and heir of Jn Rogers deceased viz for one croft of land called Barcrofte containing by estimation 6a of land or more etc and one other croft of land called Parkefield containing 4a2r or more etc lying near the lord's park the aforesaid parties as well by their own proper consent and will as by the advisement of their friends have put themselves to the arbitrationment of the lord and his counsel learned in the law and the lord of his special favour with his foresaid counsel have taken upon them to make an arbitrationment and ordinance between the foresaid parties concerning the premises in manner and form following viz that the foresaid Nich Cherche shall have and enjoy to him and his heirs the foresaid two crofts of land with the appurtenances to hold of the lord as of this manor by the rod by the ancient rents and services before due and of right accustomed and hereupon the lord commanded Jn Chyrche steward of the court there to admit the said Nich Cherche to the foresaid two crofts of land whereupon the foresaid steward by the lord's commandment admitted the said Nich to the foresaid two crofts of land with the appurtenances on the morrow after the epiphany of the lord 7.1.last past to which Nich by the said steward of the lord there is seisin thereof delivered as to the hands of Edm Allen the deputy of the said Nich to hold to the same Nich and his heirs of the lord by the rod etc and hereupon the said day and year and in the place aforesaid Jn Farthinge and Eliz his wife and the same Eliz alone and secretly examined by the lord's steward confessed and for a certain sum of money to them by the foresaid Nich Cherche by the hands of the said Edm Allen paid remised released and always for them and the heirs of the said Eliz quitclaimed forever to the foresaid Nich Cherche and his heirs in their peaceable possession being all their right title estate claim interest and demand whichever they had have or by any means hereafter may have or have of and in the foresaid two crofts of land with the appurtenances viz so that neither the foresaid Jn Farthinge nor their heirs nor any for them or in their names may or ought hereafter claim or challenge any right title estate claim interest or demand of and in the foresaid two crofts of land with the appurtenances nor in any parcel thereof but shall be clean abarred from all action of right forever by these presents and afterward viz on saturday in easter 6Edw6 21.5.1552 the foresaid Nich Cherche came before Jn Churche the steward aforesaid at Maldon in the county of Essex in the presence of Jn Culverton and Antho Sparrowe the lord's tenants and surrendered into the lord's hands the foresaid two crofts of land with the appurtenances to the use of Edm Allen his heirs and assigns who came to this court and craved to be admitted thereunto and he is admitted the lord's tenant thereof to whom by the lord's steward there is seisin thereof delivered to hold to him his heirs and assigns of the lord by the rod etc and he giveth fine and made fealty
