it appeareth in the court with the leet of 28Eliz1 that Wm Garrard brother and heir of Thos Garrard holdeth to him and his heirs by copy one messuage called Skinners and one croft of land with two houses builded thereupon and one barn called Burtons Barn or Burtons Garden with free ingress and egress through the gates of the manor there viz from the highway leading towards Colchester even to the said barn and through a croft of land called Berecroft as well to carry and recarry there through the said gates as through the said crofts of land and one tenement called Gentries and three crofts of land called Bromecrofts containing 12a and also one croft of land containing 11a with a way leading even to the field aforesaid to drive and chase and one meadow late parcel of the said croft called Berecroft containing 3a with appurtenances in Earls Colne aforesaid as by meets and bounds they are everywhere divided as appeareth in the court here holden 4.10.23Eliz1 and they are holden by fealty suit of court and rent of by the year and the same Wm is now in the custody of Alice the wife of Wm Deverill mother of the same Wm until the full age of the same Wm of twenty one years
