ten that the said complainant Rose upon 21.4.1619 did make the several surrenders of all her said copyhold messuage and lands now in question into the hands of the lord according to the custom of the several manors of Earls Colne and Colne Priory to the use and performance of her last will and testament and this deponent saith that the said Rose by the name of Rose Partridge widow did make one of the said surrenders into the hands of the lord of the said manor of Earls Colne by the hands of this deponent instead of the bailiff in the presence of Robt Crow and Robt Parker two customary tenants of the said manor witnessing the same the other of the said surrenders the said complainant Rose by the name aforesaid did likewise make into the hands of the lord of the manor of Colne Priory by the hands of this deponent instead of the bailiff in the presence of the said Robt Crow and one Jas Pennock customary tenants of the said manor witnessing the same and this deponent further saith that at the next court of the said several manors holden for the said manors respectively both the said surrenders were by the then homage presented and the said defendant Rich Harlakenden was present in court when the said surrenders were presented and were by the said Rich his consent and the consent of his then steward and the tenants of the said manor present at the said court presented accepted and for any thing that this deponent knoweth to the contrary were enrolled and this deponent saith that he is well assured that the enrolling of the said surrender was paid for this deponent paid the money for the doing thereof viz 2s
