sixteen that he this deponent did heretofore take a surrender from the complainant's wife in her widowhood of 6a of wood ground held of the manor of Earls Colne by copy of court roll being parcel of the messuage and lands now in question and saith that he this deponent and one Jn Ward did take the same surrender to and for the use of the said Rich Harlakenden and further saith that he this deponent doth verily believe that the writing in paper dated 26.2.1613 and now shown unto him this deponent at the time of his examination is a true note or memoranda that was made of the same surrender and lastly saith that he doth verily think that the said surrender was presented at the next court then following holden for the said manor by this deponent and such as assisted and were present at the taking of the said surrender
