twenty one that at the said trial the said Robt Parker used these or the like words unto the now lord president of his majesties council sir Hen Montagu then judge at the same trial viz " my lord you have done us all open wrong by putting away an old woman which was the foresaid mother Brewer for she knows more than all we she being almost or altogether at woman's estate when we were children " and also saith that at the same trial the said sir Hen Montagu did demand of the said Parker how the ground then in question did lie who answered that eastward it butted on Gold's house and westward upon part of the said mr Adams his ground and northwards on the king's highway leading from Colne towards Colchester and southwards on a pound and other grounds of the said mr Adams and he the said Parker at the said time told the said sir Hen Montagu that there was a house that in former times stood near unto the said mr Adams his house which was driven close to the said Gold's house which two houses were sold the one to the said mr Adams and the other to one Wm Smith and this deponent lastly saith that the said Gold's house was copyhold and the other house then in question was freehold which at the same time was the cause of said trial and more etc Wm Adams
