five that he knoweth that the said mr Cooke was a very skilful and sufficient steward and this deponent is persuaded that he was as well as experienced a man for keeping of courts as any was living in his time and this deponent did never know of any dishonest carriage or dealing in him nor did this deponent ever hear any man of good sort so much as speak evil of him to his now remembrance and sure he is that the better sort of men that knew him had a general good opinion of him and did hold him for a very honest sufficient and just man in all his dealings and this is all he saith to this interrogatory
