three that about four years ago as he now remembreth the time when the complainant Rose was the widow of Robt Partridge this deponent meeting with her one day in Earls Colne aforesaid near to the dwelling house of the defendant mr Harlakenden she the said Rose calling to this deponent desired to speak with him and thereupon entering into speech with this deponent amongst other communication which then passed she told this deponent that in regard she had ever found this deponent and his brother the defendant to be such honest gentlemen and her true loving friends she would therefore in requital thereof freely give and bestow upon their children all her lands whereunto this deponent answering that she had divers children of her own that she might do well to provide for she replied that all was one for that she was re solved and would give her said lands to the children of this deponent and of his brother and that her own children should never have a foot of it or used words to that or the like effect Thos Harlakenden to the rest not examined
