to all christ's faithful to whom this present writing may come Thos Polley of Earls Colne in the county of Essex butcher greetings in the lord everlasting know ye I the aforementioned Thos Polley as much for divers good causes and considerations by me to these presents specially moving that for certain considerations of a certain sum of money to me by Thos Turner of Colne aforesaid well and faithfully before paid whence I acknowledge to be content and paid by the said Thos Turner his heirs executors and administrators and thereof exonerate and to be acquitted forever by these presents have given granted enfeoffed warranted and by this my present writing confirmed to the aforementioned Thos Turner his heirs and assigns all that tenement or rentary sometime of Wm Davison late of Wm Smith situate and lying in Earls Colne aforesaid viz between the customary tenement now or late of Nich Parker on the east side and a tenement or rentary sometime of Jeff Audley now belonging to the church of Earls Colne aforesaid on the west side one head thereof abutteth upon the king's highway leading to the church aforesaid towards the north shown in and by the meets and bounds also 1d yearly rent by the year the aforesaid customary tenement occupied now or late by the said Nich Parker just as in ancient times accustomed to have and to hold all the aforementioned tenement or rentary with all its appurtenances and aforesaid years and rent of 1d to the aforesaid Thos Turner his heirs and assigns to the sole and proper use and behoof of the same Thos Turner his heirs and assigns forever to hold of the chief lord of the fee by the services thereof firstly due and of right accustomed and verily I the aforementioned Thos Polley and my heirs against me and my heirs will warrant all the aforesaid tenement or rentary with all and singular its appurtenances and the aforementioned rent of 1d to the aforementioned Thos Turner and his heirs and assigns forever defended by the presents in witness whereof to this present writing I have put my seal given the 18.8.1563 mark Thos Polley
