this indenture made 20.12.1705 between Mary Nicolls of Colne Engaine spinster of the one part and Hen Adams of Earls Colne yeoman of the other part witnesseth that the said Mary Nicolls for and in consideration of the sum of 5s to her the said Mary Nicolls in hand paid at and before the ensealing and delivery of these presents by the said Hen Adams the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and thereof and of every part and parcel thereof doth acquit exonerate and forever discharge the said Hen Adams his executors administrators and assigns by these presents hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Hen Adams all that freehold messuage tenement and garden situate standing and being in Earls Colne on a certain green called Colne Green and now in the tenure or occupation of Peter King his assignee or assigns with all and singular the yards gardens backsides to the said tenement belonging or appertaining or with the said house or tenement commonly used or occupied or which are accepted reputed or taken to be part parcel or member of the same and the reversion etc to have and to hold the said messuage tenement or cottage yards gardens backsides and all and singular other the premises herein before granted bargained and sold and herein or hereby meant mentioned or intended so to be with their and every of their appurtenances unto the said Hen Adams his heirs executors and administrators from the day before the day of the date of these presents unto the full end and term of one whole year from thence next ensuing fully to be complete and ended yielding and paying therefore unto the said Mary Nicolls her heirs and assigns the rent of one peppercorn at the feast day of the nativity of st jn baptist next ensuing the date hereof if the same be lawfully demanded to the intent and purpose that by virtue hereof and of the statute made for the transferring of uses into possession the said Hen Adams may be in the actual possession of the said premises and may be thereby enabled to accept of a grant and release of the reversion and inheritance of the same to him and his heirs for ever in witness whereof the parties first above named to these present indentures have interchangeably set their hands and seals the day and year first above written mark Mary Nicolls
