(in latin) Robt Ive of Colne Engaine in the county of Essex baker where he had usually lived about half a year before at White Colne for about the same time and formerly in Stoke Nayland in the county of Suffolk for about nine years or thereabouts he said that he knew well Wm Smith the testator for about seven years to his good knowledge to the said testament and allegations and deposition that about two or three years ago for the certain day and year he cannot remember the late Wm Smith deceased sent for this deponent to be a witness unto his will at whose request he went unto him and found him in his house in White Colne with his apprentice Symon Ive and the executor Jn Byrd at whose coming the testator requested the said Symon Ive to read out his will which he had written by his instructions before this deponents coming who accordingly did so and when he had made an end the testator did like very well of it and in confirmation of the same did set his hand and seal to the later end thereof and moreover he saith that the said testator did nominate and appoint Jn Byrde his brother in law executor of the same as he believeth and further he deposeth that the said testator was at that time of perfect mind and memory and lived after the making thereof about two years and a half or thereabouts and that he did give and devise all the legacies mentioned in the same for that it being read out unto him at the time of his examination he doth well remember every particular legacy and lastly he saith that this will whereupon he is now examined is the same will which was then read sealed and subscribed by the said testator as abovesaid and because he set his own hand to the later and thereof and otherwise he knows not 30.6.1615 Robt Atlett surrogate Robt Ive
