this indenture made 5.4.1690 witnesseth that Humph Ruggles and Thos Paine churchwardens of the parish of Earls Colne and Wm Augar and Simon Overall overseers of the poor for the said parish with the consent of justices of the peace whose names are subscribed do put and place Thos Green poor child of the said parish apprentice to Wm Pickutt of the town of Colchester weaver with him to dwell and serve from the day of the date of these presents until the said apprentice shall accomplish his full age of twenty four years being aged about 13yr during which time he will serve his master etc and that he the said Wm Pickutt the said apprentice in the art and trade of weaving shall teach and instruct or cause to be taught and instructed and shall keep him with sufficient meat etc and at the end of the term supply him with double apparel for work and holy days etc mark Wm Pickutt sealed and delivered in the presence of Robt Wright Thos Paine churchwarden Humph Rugels Wm Augar overseer Simon Overall overseer justices of the peace E Rebow Thos Bowes
