this indenture made 3.11.1691 witnesseth that Sam Finch and Thos Payne churchwardens of Earls Colne and Wm Chapman overseer for the poor in the said parish as also by the consent of two justices of the peace whose names are subscribed have put and placed Ann Green a poor child of the said parish apprentice to Jabez Glading of Ardley clothworker with him to dwell and serve from this day until she is twenty one years and obey and serve him his wife and children (actual trade or skill she is to be taught does not appear as the document is worn at the relevant spot) master shall allow her meat drink and apparel and keep the parishioners of Earls Colne indemnified from any charges and at the end of the apprenticeship to give her two suits of apparel one for work days and one for holy days Jabez Glading witnesses Sam Burton mark Robt Sayward no signatures of churchwardens or justices of the peace
