in the name of god amen 2.1.1564 I Roger Goodridge of Earls Colne in the county of Essex and in the diocese of London being sick in body but whole of mind and remembrance make and ordain this my testament and last willing manner and form following first I bequeath my soul to the holy trinity the father the son and the holy ghost and to the blessed company of heaven and my body to be buried in the churchyard of Earls Colne aforesaid item I bequeath to my son Wm Goodridge a flock bedstead a coverlet a transom and a trundle bedstead item I bequeath to my son Jas Goodridge a great brass pot a great cauldron and a trivet item I bequeath to my daughter Kath Bover two lambs and a calf to be weaned for her at the age of five weeks item I will and give Alice my wife my house that I now dwell in with the appurtenances and also my tenement called Pyppins with all the lands free and copy belonging to the same to have and hold to her and her assigns during the term of her life and after her decease I will my said son Jas Goodridge shall have the said house and tenement with all the said lands free and copy with their appurtenances to hold to him his heirs and assigns forever provided always that Alice my said wife shall keep the said house and tenement in good and sufficient reparation and pay the rent due or to be due to the lord thereof during her life natural item I bequeath to my said wife my lease lands during the years yet to run in the same and if it chance my said wife to die before the said years yet to run are ended then I will Jas my son shall the same to the end of the years yet to run item I will and before my cofeoffees to deliver a state of my free lands to the use of son Jas and his heirs and assigns forever the residue of all my goods not bequeathed I give them to Alice my said wife and I make my said wife executrix and my son Jas executor of this my testament and last will and I give them authority by the same to take up all my debts and to pay that I do owe fulfil this my will and bring my body to the ground witness hereof Jn Petfeld Greg Garrard and Thos Marche
