in the name of god amen the 3.7.1571 I Geo Somersham of Earls Colne in the county of Essex and in the diocese of London single being sick in body yet of good and perfect memory thanks be given to almighty god do ordain and make my testament and last will in manner following first I bequeath my soul to the holy trinity the father the son and the holy ghost trusting by the merit of the most glorious death of our saviour jesus christ to have full remission of all my sins and to be one of the number of his elect and my body I will to be buried in the churchyard of Earls Colne aforesaid item I bequeath to Jane Somersham my sister my dun cow item I give and bequeath to my goddaughter Clemence Bounndes two lambs the residue of all my goods and chattels I give and bequeath them wholly to my brother Jn Somersham whom I make my sole executor to receive my debts and to bring my body honestly to the earth these being witnesses hereof Thos Barker Robt Poice and others
