in the name of god amen the 27.10.1572 I Wm Finche of Earls Colne in the county of Essex yeoman blacksmith being sick in body but whole and sound in mind and of good and perfect remembrance do here make institute and ordain this my last will and testament as followeth bequeathing my soul into the hands of almighty god the father the son and the holy ghost imprimis in disposition of my lands freehold I will and bequeath all and singular my tenement called Redynge with all the lands unto the same belonging freehold do remain unto Kath my wife four years and a half next after my decease to have and to hold unto her and her assigns during those said four years and one half year finding reparations upon the same by the rent and service unto the chief lord or lords of the feadne# and of right customary item I give and bequeath unto the said Kath my wife one obligation wherein Wm Turner of Halsted in the county of Essex standeth bounden unto me the said Wm in 20li she to receive and hold to her only use all and all manner sum or sums of money and advantages depending and growing unto me the said Wm by reason of the by reason of the said obligation done and to be due as by the same is limited and appointed bearing date 10.12.12Eliz1 etc. thus enrolled item I give and bequeath unto the same Kath my wife all and all manner my goods and chattels movables which I the said Wm am of right seised on and in at the making if this my present testament containing therein my whole and perfect last will and I make and ordain the said Kath my sole and only executrix to see my body buried my debts paid and charitable alms to give at my funeral and I ordain Jn Hammond overseer of this my last will and testament I will and bequeath unto the said Jn Hammond 3s4d for his pains to be taken in and about the premises and his charges to be borne in witness whereof I have unto these presents my hand and seal put the day and the year above written sealed and delivered in the presence of Jn Prentice (may be Jn Prentice) Jn Fried and Wm Broughton clerk
