in the name of god amen the 16.4.1573 I Joan Brewster of Hedingham at Castle in the county of Essex and diocese of London widow of perfect mind and memory make my last will and testament in manner and form following first before all things I bequeath my soul unto almighty god my maker and saviour trusting to be saved and come to the unspeakable joys of heaven by the death and passion of my redeemer jesus christ the son of god and by no other means or ways also I bequeath my body to be buried in the churchyard at Hedingham aforesaid near unto my late husband Robt Brewster deceased item I give and bequeath unto my son Robt Brewster 30li of lawful money of England to be paid unto him within three years next after my decease that is to say 10li every year item I give and bequeath unto Jn Brewster my son 30li of lawful money of England to be paid unto him within three years next after my decease that is to say 10li every year and my greatest maser dish to be delivered immediately after my decease item I give and bequeath unto my son Rich Brewster 30li of lawful money of England to be paid unto him within three years next after my decease that is to say 10li every year item I give and bequeath unto my cousin Sibley two of my best silver spoons with a maser dish to be delivered unto her immediately after my decease item I give and bequeath unto Margt Cooke my niece 14s of lawful money of England to be paid within one year after my decease item I give and bequeath unto Joan Hambery my niece one featherbed one feather bolster and one feather pillow to be delivered immediately after my decease item I give and bequeath unto dame Marge 3s4d to be paid unto her immediately after my decease item I give and bequeath unto Agnes Oddine my maid 10s of lawful money to be paid immediately after my decease item I give and bequeath to Eliz Barker my maid 10s of lawful money to be paid immediately after my decease item I give and bequeath unto Mary Warde my goddaughter 6s8d of lawful money to be paid her father for her use immediately after my decease item I give and bequeath unto the poor people of Hedingham at Castle aforesaid 3li6s8d to be paid within five years next after my decease that is to say 13s4d every year item all the rest of my lands houses goods money plate jewels corn cattle utensils and movables whatsoever not before given and bequeathed I do give and bequeath to my son Wm Brewster and his heirs forever whom I make my only and sole executor to perform this my last will and testament charging him in the name of god and under his dutiful obedience to me his mother to perform this my last will and testament in all points according to my true meaning and I ordain and make Thos Sadlington the elder of Hedingham aforesaid supervisor of the same provided always that if my said son Wm Brewser refuse to prove and execute this my last will and testament than he to have nor take any benefit by this my said will and testament at all notwithstanding anything before specified but that I will that Jn Brewster my son shall have all my lands goods and movables before specified and he to prove and perform this my last will and testament truly according to my meaning in witness whereof I have caused this my said will and testament to be written and made and thereto have put my hand and seal the day and year above written =.=.1573 sealed delivered and subscribed and surrendered in the presence of Thos Sadlington Dmytame Baldwyn and Geo Warde with others
