in the name of god amen the 27.2.1578 etc. I Jn Potter of Earls Colne in the county of Essex yeoman being sick in body but of whole and perfect remembrance thanks be unto almighty god do ordain and make this my testament containing my last will in manner and form following that is to say first I bequeath my soul unto the mercy of almighty god my body to be buried etc item I give and bequeath unto Jeff Potter my brother and Clem Kettell my kinsman all my goods debts and chattels corn implements and household stuff whatsoever they be in whose hands or possession soever they do remain equally between them to be divided which said Jeff and Clem I do ordain and make executors of this my said testament they to receive and pay my debts and to see my body decently brought in earth and to bestow some part of the overplus of the said goods if any remain amongst such of my kinfolks as they shall think good at their discretions these being witnesses Jn Aylenior Rich Bragge Wm Turner Robt Boyes Wm Vigeraus and others
