in the name of god amen I Dan Bewers of Colchester in the county of Essex blacksmith being sick in body but in perfect memory thanks be given unto almighty god I do ordain this as my last will and testament in manner as followeth viz imprimis I do bequeath my soul into the hands of almighty god and my body to be buried in the churchyard of St Maries parish or in that parish churchyard where it shall please god to take away my life and all my goods and chattels I dispose as followeth item I give and bequeath unto my brother's eldest son my tenement with the appurtenances thereunto belonging lying and being in Earls Colne in the county of Essex aforesaid item my will is my debts being first paid I do give unto my sister Eliz Barrett 4li of lawful english money to be paid within three months after my decease and also I do give my sister aforesaid all my wife's wearing apparel item I do give and bequeath unto Robt Humerstone of Colchester aforesaid 40s of lawful money of England to be paid him within three months after my decease and as for all the rest of my goods and chattels unbequeathed whatsoever I do bequeath unto Francis Clayse of Colchester aforesaid whom I do ordain and make my sole executor of this my last will and testament for to see my debts and legacies paid and to see my body to be buried in christian burial in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 25.9.1626 etc. sealed and delivered in the presence of us Wm Maynerd Rich Wreshfeild mark Dan Bewers
