in the name of god amen the 27.6.1642 etc I Hen Picket of Earls Colne in the county of Essex and diocese of London husbandman being sick and weak in body but of good and perfect mind and remembrance I do give god thanks therefore I do make ordain and declare this my present last will and testament in manner and form following and I do hereby utterly renounce and revoke all former will or wills by me heretofore made whatsoever first and principally I commend my soul into the hands of almighty god the father my creator and maker and to jesus christ his blessed son my only redeemer and the holy ghost my sanctifier comforter and preserver and my body to the earth from whence it was taken to be decently buried in christian sepulchre according to my degree and for that part and portion of worldly goods where with it hath pleased almighty god out of his free favour and love to endue me withal imprimis I give and bequeath unto Wm Death of Earls Colne in the said county my uncle all my lands being freehold lying in the several parishes of Rivenhall and Faburne containing by estimation 8a be it more or less now in the tenure or occupation of Humph Aylett or his assigns by whatsoever name or names the same now is or heretofore hath been called to have and to hold to him the said Wm Death and his heirs and assigns forever upon condition that the said Wm my uncle his heirs executors or assigns shall pay unto Thos Faninge my brother the sum of 20li of good and lawful money of England at any time within three months after he shall attain to the age of 21yr and also upon condition that the said Wm Death his heirs executors or assigns shall pay unto Eliz Faninge my sister 20li of the like lawful english money at any time after she shall attain to the age of 21yr as is aforesaid and my will and meaning is that if any one of them both shall happen to die before he or she come to the said age of 21yr then I do give and bequeath the sum of 40li of lawful english money to whichsoever of them twain shall survive to be paid as aforesaid item I give and bequeath unto Mary the daughter of Thos Hills my kinsman the sum of 10li of lawful money of England to be paid unto her at the age of 18yr by mine executor item I give and bequeath unto Joan the now wife of Wm Raven of Cogshall my kinswoman the sum of 50s of lawful english money to be paid unto her within one year next ensuing after my decease by my executor item I give and bequeath unto Eliz Death my kinswoman 60s of like lawful money of England to be paid unto her within one year next ensuing after my decease as is aforesaid item I give and bequeath unto Mary Death and Sarah Death my two kinswomen the sum of 50s apiece of the like lawful english money to be paid unto them at their several ages of 21yr by my executor item I give and bequeath unto Wm Death my said uncle's son 10li of the like lawful english money to be put out by the said Wm his father to his best advantage so soon as he shall attain to the age of 7yr until he shall attain to the age of 21yr item I give and bequeath unto the poor of the said parish 40s to be distributed at the discretion of my executor item I give unto Wm Bullocke my uncle's servant 10s to be paid to him at the age of 24yr all the rest of my goods chattels and cattle whatsoever unbequeathed my debts and legacies being paid and my funeral expenses discharged I do give and bequeath unto the said Wm Death my uncle whom I do make ordain and appoint to be my only executor of this my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day month and year above written sealed subscribed delivered and declared as his last will and testament in the presence of us Wm Adams writer mark Thos Hills mark Eliz Stubbers mark Hen Pickett
