in the name of god amen the 2.4.1645 etc I Thos Miles of Burygreene in the parish of Little Hadham in the county of Hertford yeoman being sickly of body yet of sound and perfect memory thanks be given to almighty god for the same do make and ordain this my last will and testament in writing in manner and form following and first I bequeath my soul into the hands of almighty god assuredly trusting through the only merits of jesus christ my saviour and redeemer to have remission of my sins and life everlasting and my body I commit to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my loving wife and executrix hereafter named and as touching that real and personal estate which it hath pleased god of his only mercy to bestow upon me I give will devise and bequeath the same in manner and form following first I give and bequeath unto my loving wife Eliz Miles for and during the term and time of her natural life the thirds or third part of all and singular my houses lands tenements or hereditaments situate set lying and being in Great Stuckeley in the county of Huntingdon now in the tenure or occupation of one Jn Fitzjohn and as touching the other two parts of the said lands and tenements in three parts to be divided I give the same unto the said Eliz my wife for and during the minority of Edw Thos Miles Miles my son to the intent that she my said wife out of the rents and profits of the said two parts during such minority raise portions and monies for my second son Thos Miles to be paid unto him at his full age of 21yr and in case he the said Thos shall happen to die or depart this life before his said full age of 21yr that then my will and mind is that such monies so to be raised and intended to be paid to the said Thos my son shall equally be divided and paid unto my two daughters Eliz and Mary Miles at their full age of 20yr and in case either of my said daughters shall happen to die or depart this life before the said age then such daughter so surviving to have the part of such daughter so deceasing item I give and bequeath unto the said Thos my son his heirs and assigns forever all that my close of pasture ground called part of Longe Crofte containing by estimation 1a more or less set lying and being in or near Church End in the parish of Little Hadham abovesaid being lands I lately purchased of one Wm Hayward and as touching all my movable goods household stuff and implements of household which are within doors in the now dwelling house that I now live in called Bury Farm I give and bequeath the same unto the said Eliz my wife her executors and assigns for her future accommodation and subsistence and as touching all other my goods chattels and debts Thos Miles that are without doors or accounted chattels or goods without doors of what nature or kind soever the same are of I give and bequeath the same to my said loving wife her executors and assigns to the intent and purpose following that is to say that she the said Eliz my wife may with all convenient speed and best advantage she may after my decease make sale of such goods or chattels without doors and raise monies thereby first to pay my debts and the legacies herein bequeathed and after such debts paid and legacies discharged then to distribute the overplus of the monies of such goods so to be sold as is aforesaid equally betwixt my said two daughters Eliz an d Mary Miles to be paid unto them at their several days of marriage or several ages of out 18yr 20yr which shall first happen and it is my mind that in case either of my said daughters shall happen to die or depart this life before their said age or days of marriage that then the part and portion monies of such daughter so deceasing shall remain and be paid to such daughter so surviving and in case both my said daughters shall happen to die before their said age of 18yr or day of marriage then it is my will and mind that the said portions monies of my said two daughters shall be divided equally between my two sons Edw and Thos Miles at their several ages of 24yr and in case either of my said sons shall happen to die before his said age of 24yr Thos Miles and the said portion monies so given to my said daughters shall happen to come to him by the death of my said daughters that then it is my will and mind that such of my said sons so surviving shall have and receive the whole portion monies of my said two daughters item I give and bequeath unto my nephew (sic) Dorothy Humphry the wife of Jn Humphry the sum of 50s of lawful money of England to be paid unto her by my executrix hereafter named within one year next after my decease item I give and bequeath unto my nephew (sic) Anna sister to the said Dorothy the full sum of 50s of like lawful money of England to be paid unto her by my said executrix hereafter named within one year next after my decease and I do hereby nominate and appoint the said Eliz my loving wife sole executrix of this my last will and testament utterly revoking all former wills as well written as nuncupative and all former legacies by me heretofore made declared or given only ratifying these presents to be my very last will and testament and I do hereby desire and appoint my father in law Jn Brett and my brother in law Jn Cleere to be overseers of this my last will and testament desiring them to see that this my last will and testament be in every point therein duly performed in witness whereof I have to these presents containing four sheets of paper to the bottom of every of the said four sheets set my hand and to the parchment label whereby the said sheets of paper at the top are affixed and filed together have set my seal the day and year first above written signed sealed published and declared to be the last will and testament of the said Thos Miles in the presence of us and the several words twenty in the two first sheets interlined before the delivery hereof Felix Caluesd Robt Colt Nich Danies Thos
