the 24.3.1651 I Robt Browne of Earls Colne in the county of Essex yeoman being weak and frail in body but in good and perfect mind and remembrance I give god thanks therefore do make ordain and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following and I do hereby utterly renounce and revoke all and every other former will and wills heretofore by me made whatsoever first and principally I commit and commend my soul into the merciful hands of almighty god the father my creator and to his forever blessed son jesus christ my alone redeemer and to the holy ghost my only comforter sanctifier and preserver and my body to the earth from whence it was taken to be decently buried in christian sepulchre according to my degree and for that part and portion of worldly goods wherewith it hath pleased god out of his free favour and love to endue me withal imprimis I give and bequeath unto Jas Browne my son and to his heirs and assigns forever all those my three closes or parcels of freehold land lying in Esse alias Ashon in the said county containing by estimation 8a be it more or less commonly called by the several names of the Upperfeild butting upon the Homefeild Thralls and Finches Crofte or by whatsoever name or names the same or any part or parcel thereof now are or at any time heretofore hath been called also I give and bequeath unto the said Jas my son and to his heirs 2r of meadow lying in a common meadow called Stowers Meadow in the parish of Esse alias Ashon aforesaid and now being in the tenure and occupation of one Jn Winch of the same town and county yeoman or of his assigns so soon as he shall attain to his age of 21yr item I give and bequeath unto Jn Browne my youngest son the full sum of 30li of good and lawful money of England to be paid unto him so soon as he shall attain unto his full age of 21yr by mine under named executrix item I give and bequeath unto Sarah Browne my eldest daughter the sum of 25li of good and lawful money of England to be paid unto her so soon as she shall attain to her age of 21yr by mine executrix item I give and bequeath unto Mary Browne my daughter the sum of 25li of good and lawful money of England to be paid unto her so soon as she shall attain to her age of 21yr by mine executrix item I give and bequeath unto Eliz Browne my youngest daughter the sum of 25li of the like lawful money of England to be paid unto her so soon as she shall attain to her full age of 21yr by mine executrix and my will and meaning is that if any of my children shall happen to die and depart out of this life before they shall be of lawful age to receive their legacy or legacies before herein by me given and bequeathed I will that their legacy or legacies so dying shall be equally divided between so many of them as shall be living at their several ages of 21yr by mine executrix as is aforesaid item I give and bequeath unto Robt Browne my eldest son the sum of 5s of good and lawful money of England all the rest of my goods chattels and cattle implements of household stuff whatsoever or wheresoever unbequeathed my debts and legacies being paid and my body decently buried I do give and bequeath unto Sarah my beloved wife whom I make and ordain to be my only sole executrix of this my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day month and year above written Robt Browne sealed acknowledged published declared and delivered as his last will and testament in the presence of us Jas Wilsmore his mark Wm Adams writer Margt Lea her mark
