in the name of god amen the 10.3.1671 I Robt Carter of Earls Colne in the county of Essex yeoman being sick of body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given to god therefore do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following and I do hereby utterly disannul and revoke all other will or wills legacies and bequests whatsoever before this time made give or bequeathed ratifying and confirming and allowing this and none other to be my last will and testament that is to say first and principally I give my soul into the hands of god who gave it me and my body to the earth from whence it was taken to be buried by the discretion of my executors hereafter mentioned and for all the rest of my goods I give devise and bequeath as follows item I give and bequeath unto Robt Carter my youngest son all that my copyhold land holding upon the manor of Earls Colne called by the name of Waseland and Stachies with all and singular the appurtenances whatsoever as it is now in the tenure and occupation of Wm Fisher or his assigns to have and enjoy the said copyhold land to the said Robt Carter his heirs and assigns forever and my will and mind is that the said Robt Carter shall pay out of the said lands unto Ann my loving wife the sum of 5li a year for every year for and during her natural life to be paid at two entire payments that is to say 50s every half year and I do nominate and appoint Ann my loving wife and the aforesaid Robt my son executors to this my last will and testament to which I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above said sealed signed published and declared to be the last will and testament of Robt Carter in the presence of us Wm Harlakenden Sam Burton Robt Carter
