memorandum that upon the 6.1.1680 etc. I Wm Allen of Earls Colne in the county of Essex shopkeeper being weak in body but of sound disposing mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following imprimis I give devise and bequeath unto my daughter Ann Allen all those my lands lying and being in White Colne being one field or close containing 2a more or less and one meadow containing 1a more or less in my own occupation to her and her heirs forever in lieu and for full satisfaction of a portion of 65li received by me which was given her by her grandmother Stallion and my will is that Martha my wife shall take the profits thereof towards the maintenance of her the said Ann till she attain the age of 18yr or day of marriage which shall first happen also I give unto my said daughter Ann all my household stuff now standing in my parlour being a featherbed bedstead and furniture belonging thereunto a cupboard table five leather chairs one low chair a pair of cobirons and glass shelf also a chest of drawers and a trunk that was her mother's with all that is in the said trunk item I do give devise and bequeath unto Martha my loving wife the house I now live in with the yards gardens and appurtenances thereunto belonging for and during the term of her natural life and after her decease I give and devise the same unto my son Rich Allen and the heirs of his body forever nevertheless upon this condition he pay or cause to be paid unto my two daughters Alice Groome and Ann Allen the sum of 5li apiece within one year after my wife's decease and in case he shall make default of payment thereof or any part thereof my will is that such of my said daughters to whom default shall be made shall enter upon the said house and premises with the rents and profits thereof until their respective 5li with their charges thereunto arising be fully paid and satisfied and in case my said son Rich shall die without issue of his body begotten then I give and devise unto my daughter Ann the said house with the appurtenances she paying to my daughter Alice within one year after she shall enjoy the same the sum of 40li to her the said Ann and the heirs of her body forever and for want of such issue then to my daughter Alice and her heirs forever item I give unto my loving mother the sum of 5li to be paid her by 10s every usual quarter day if she shall so long live the first payment to begin the next usual quarter day after my decease item I give unto my daughter Alice the sum of 5li to be paid her within one year after my decease item I give unto my son Rich the sum of 5li to be paid him within one year (rest from transcript) after my decease if he be then in England and if not then into the hands of Steph Chrisp and Jn Furly jun there to remain until he sends for it or demands it all the rest of my goods and chattels wheresoever and whatsoever I give and bequeath unto Martha my loving wife whom I do nominate appoint and constitute to be the sole executrix of this my last will and testament contained in one sheet of paper hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me made do declare this to be my last will signed with my name and sealed with my seal the day and year first abovewritten Wm Allen signed sealed and published to be the last will of the testator within named in the presence of us Giles Crow Jn Hall mark of Andrew Conny
