in the name of god amen I Edw Abbutt of Earls Colne in the county of Essex gent being of the age of 72yr and upwards and weak and infirm but of a sound and perfect mind and memory thanks be to god do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner following hereby revoking all former wills by me made first and principally I commend my soul into the hands of almighty god my most merciful creator hoping to be saved through the alone merits of jesus christ my most gracious redeemer and whereas I did formerly give unto the people called quakers a piece of ground for a burying place lying in Coptford in the said county of Essex next the queen's highway leading from Colchester towards London and did reserve therein at that end next Colchester a place for burial of myself and family I will that my body be decently interred in the same burial place and that a brick wall be erected about the said burial place about 6rods in circumference by my executor herein after named within a convenient time after my decease and I will that all my tenants and relations who shall attend my body to the grave shall have gloves and hatbands and as to that worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased god to bless me I dispose ther eof as followeth imprimis I give and bequeath unto my kinsman Jn Stephens of Dedham in the county of Essex collarmaker the sum of 10li to be paid him by my executor herein after named within three months next after my decease item I give and bequeath unto the poor people of Earls Colne aforesaid the sum of 10li to be paid and distributed amongst them by my executor within one month next after my decease item I give devise and bequeath unto Ann Perry of Coln Engaine in the county of Essex widow for and during the term of her natural life all those my two copyhold cottages or tenements with the appurtenances situate in Holt Street in Earls Colne aforesaid and now or late in the tenures or occupations of mr Drybutter and Alex Williston or their or one of their assignee or assigns and holden of the manor of Earls Colne or Colne Priory and from and after her decease I give and bequeath the same unto Judith Perry her daughter and her heirs forever item all other my messuages lands tenements and hereditaments whatsoever and wheresoever as well freehold as copyhold I give devise and bequeath unto my only child Edw Abbutt and his heirs forever and all the rest and residue of my goods chattels bills bonds mortgages plate ready money household stuff and personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever after my legacies and just debts paid and discharged I give and bequeath unto my said only child Edw Abbutt whom I do nominate and appoint sole executor of this my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the 4.2.1711 etc. signed sealed published and declared by the testator in our presence and in his presence attested and subscribed by us Anna Wilken Ambr Chapman Wm Gibbs S Grimston Edw Abbutt
