in the name of god amen I Martha King widow of Earls Colne in the county of Essex being ill of body but of good and perfect memory thanks be given to god for the same do make ordain and declare this to be my last will and testament and first I commend and commit my soul unto almighty god and my body to the earth to be decently buried as my executor shall see meet and as to my temporal estate I give and dispose as followeth item I give and bequeath to my only son Nath King all my estate both real and personal which I have in the world forever but if it shall please god that my said son Nath shall depart this life before he shall attain to the age of 21yr or without issue lawfully begotten then my mind and wills is that it should be equally divided between my brothers and sisters (sic) Rich Appelton Geo Appelton Susannah Appelton and Mary wife to Dan Smith of Mappellsted Magna in the county of Essex and lastly I do nominate and appoint Gilb Smith gent of Earls Colne aforesaid to be my executor to this my last will and testament and also guardian for my said son till he shall attain to the age of 21yr and if it shall so happen that the said Gilb Smith shall die before that my said son comes of age to chose his guardian then I do appoint Hen Adams jun to be as guardian for him till he shall attain the age of 21yr in witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this 17.8.1712 signed sealed published and declared to be the last will and testament of the testator in the presence of us Eliz Smith mark Eliz Appelton Roger Roote mark Martha King
