in the name of god amen I Jn Hatch of Earls Colne in the county of Essex butcher being very weak and infirm in body but of a sound and perfect mind and memory thanks be to god do make this my last will and testament in manner following hereby revoking all former wills by me made imprimis I give and devise unto Susanna my loving wife for and during the term of her natural life all that my copyhold messuage or tenement situate in Holt Street wherein I now dwell with all the houses out houses and buildings yards and gardens thereunto belonging with the appurtenances holden of the manor of Colne Priory and from and after her decease I give and devise the same unto my only son Jn Hatch and his heirs forever item I will that my copyhold messuage or tenement called Goulds alias Gouldsgate or otherwise with all the lands and appurtenances thereunto belonging holden of the manor of Earls Colne whereof I this day suffered a recovery shall be sold by my said loving wife Susanna Hatch or her heirs within two years next after my decease and I do hereby give unto her or them full power to sell the same to any person or persons whatsoever for the best price she or they can get for the same and I do hereby will and devise the same unto such person or persons and his or their heirs to whom the same shall be so sold and my will and meaning is that my said wife shall receive the rents and profits of the said premises until the same shall be sold and I will that the monies arising by sale of the said premises and the rents until sale shall be for the paying and discharging of all my debts which I justly owe to any person or persons whatsoever and for the discharging of my funerals and in case of any overplus after my debts and funerals paid and discharged I give and bequeath the same unto my said loving wife Susanna Hatch item my messuage or tenement called the Poundhouse with the appurtenances in Earls Colne aforesaid being already settled upon my said wife and my said son I will the same shall be enjoyed according to the said settlement item all the rest and residue of my goods chattels and personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever after my debts funeral charges and probate of this my will shall be satisfied paid and discharged I give and bequeath unto my said loving wife Susanna Hatch whom I do nominate and appoint sole executrix of this my last will and testament in witness whereof I the said Jn Hatch have hereunto set my hand and seal the 5.8.1717 etc. signed sealed published and declared by the testator in our presence and in his presence attested and subscribed by us Rich Androwes S Grimston Thos Keable Jn Hatch
