in the name of god amen I Eliz Cressener of Earls Colne in the county of Essex widow and relict of Jn Cressener late of Earls Colne aforesaid esq deceased being in p competent health of body and of perfect mind and memory blessed be god do make and declare this my last will and testament in manner following that is to say first I commend my soul to my god that gave it trusting to be saved by the only merit and mediation of my blessed lord and saviour jesus christ and my body I commit to the earth to be decently buried in the parish church of Earls Colne by my dear husband with as little charge as consists with decency and after my funeral charges and debts which I have contracted in my widowhood shall be satisfied and paid I give and bequeath as followeth viz item I give and bequeath unto my dear and loving niece Abigail Bird 40li and all my funeral rings item I give unto my cousin Mary Sewell 50li and my silver watch and all my wearing apparel silk woollen and linen I give unto my nephew Edw Lockey's daughter my diamond ring and 10li I give unto my loving sister Cressener my gold watch and chain I give to my cousin Edwin and to my cousin Cressener and to my cousin Blackmore and his wife and to my cousin Rich Stokes and to my cousin Thos Blackmore and to my cousin Xoph Wragge and to my cousin Jn Wragge and to my cousin Edw Wragge and to my brother Hickford and to mr Barnard minister of Earls Colne and to mr Bently and to mr Jackson and to my cousin Eliz Clifford and to my cousin Ann Pericevall and to mrs Sarah Cooke and to each of them 20s apiece for rings item I give to be sold my chariot and pair of horses and furniture thereof and what underwood coopers ash and hop poles shall be cut down in any of my woods made up or unmade at the time of my decease I give to be sold and what money shall be in my tenants' hands at the time of my death and what shall be in my sister Cressener's or my own hands I give to pay my legacies all arrears of rents due to me in Earls Colne Colne Engaine White Colne Dunmow and Little Easton or what money shall be in my tenants' hands in Great St Elins and Wood Street at the time of my decease I give to defray all charges and what money shall be in mr Sewell's hands or cousin Edwin's hands I give for the aforesaid uses and what arrears of rent shall be in any of my tenants' hands in Golden Lane Ball Yard I give for the aforesaid uses I give to my two servants that shall be living with me at the time of my death 5li apiece I give unto my niece Bird my father's and my brother's and my sister Duckinfeild's and my niece Martha Lockey's pictures now at Colne item all the rest and residue of my goods chattels bills bonds mortgages ready monies debts and personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever after my debts legacies funeral charges and probate of this my will shall be satisfied paid and discharged I give and bequeath unto my cousin Thos Sewell and lastly I do nominate and appoint the said Thos Sewell sole executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all and every will and wills by me heretofore made I do declare this to be my last will and testament not any ways or any part thereof to be revoked but under my hand and seal in witness whereof I the said Eliz Cressener the testatrix to this my last will and testament have set my hand and seal the 5.3.1731 Eliz Cressener
