in the name of god amen I Jeff Cook of the parish of Earls Colne in the county of Essex carpenter being weak in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory thanks be to almighty god for it therefore do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following revoking all former wills by me made declaring this to be my last and first I commit my soul into the hands of almighty god hoping through the merits and mediation of jesus christ my saviour to have free pardon of all my sins and my body I give to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executrix herein after mentioned and as to that worldly estate it has pleased god to bless me with I dispose of in manner and form following as first I give and bequeath unto my son Jeff Cook all my working tools belonging to my business I am now in and my will is that my beloved wife Eliz Cook shall have all the rest and residue of my personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever to her own proper use she paying out of it my debts and funeral charges and further my will is that my son Jeff Cook abovesaid shall after the decease of myself and my beloved wife Eliz Cook abovesaid and that he is possessed of the estate where now I dwell that he my son Jeff Cook abovesaid shall pay unto my daughter Eliz Cook out of the freehold part of this my messuage where now I dwell viz that part which is the brewhouse workshop orchard and garden the sum of 15li of good and lawful money of England within one year after his possession of the said freehold estate and lastly I nominate constitute and appoint my beloved wife Eliz Cook abovesaid to be my sole executrix to this my last will and testament contained in one sheet of paper in witness whereof I Jeff Cook the testator have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal this 17.3.1755 Jeff Cook signed sealed published and declared by the above Jeff Cook the testator in the presence of us Jn Unwin Jn White Isabel Unwin
