in the name of god amen I Jn Cock of the parish of Earls Colne in the county of Essex plumber and glazier being weak in body but of sound mind memory and understanding do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following (that is to say) I give and devise to my wife Mary Cock all and every my messuages lands tenements and hereditaments with all and every the appurtenances thereunto belonging be the same free or copyhold situate lying and being in the parish of Earls Colne and now or late in the several tenures or occupations of Judith Cross Wm Crabb Jn Sass Wm May Wm Cansdale and Rich Chaplin to have and to hold all and every the said messuages lands tenements and hereditaments with all and every of the appurtenances thereunto belonging to her the said Mary Cock my wife for and during the term of her natural life she making no spoil waste or destruction thereon but keeping the same in good and tenable repair and from and immediately after her (decease) I give and devise the same to my daughter Mary Baker to have and to hold to her my said daughter for and during the term of her natural life and after the decease of my said daughter my will and mind is that all and every of the above devised premises shall be sold and the money arising from the sale thereof to be equally divided amongst all the children of my said daughter share and share alike but in case my said daughter should have no issue to live then my will and mind is that my said daughter shall dispose of the above devised premises at her decease by will as she shall think proper all the rest and residue of my personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature kind and quality soever the same may be and not herein before given and disposed of (after paying of my debts and funeral expenses) I do give and bequeath unto my said wife Mary Cock her executors administrators and assigns to and for her and their own use and benefit absolutely and I do hereby constitute and appoint my said wife Mary Cock sole executrix of this my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 29.2.1784 Jn Cock signed declared and published as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who subscribed our names as witnessed in the testator's presence and in the presence of each other at his request Jn Chaplin Rich Chaplin Hen Algar
