in the name of god amen! I Jas Rayner of the parish of Earls Colne in the county of Essex yeoman being of perfect mind and memory make this my last will and testament viz I desire to be carried in a hearse with four horses to the parish of Birch in the said county and there to be buried in a brick grave in the churchyard and that the charges of my funeral may not exceed 40li my temporal estate I bequeath and dispose of in the following manner imprimis to my brother Wm Rayner I bequeath 3s a week to be paid by my executor hereafter named weekly and every week during his natural life item I give and bequeath to my brother Wm Rayner's three daughters the sum of 100li of lawful money to be equally divided between them three months after the decease of my brother Wm Rayner to be paid by my executor item I give and bequeath to my sister Eliz Pennock the sum of 5li of lawful money to be paid to her by my executor six months next after my decease item I give and bequeath to my sister Judith Fincham the sum of 2s per week to be paid by my executor during her life including the 9d per week left by her mother item I give and bequeath to my sister Ann Brewer the um of 2li of lawful money to be paid to her by my executor six months next after my decease item I give and bequeath to my nephew Joseph Thorp the sum of 100li of lawful money to be paid him by my executor six months next after my decease item I give and bequeath to my nephew Jn Thorp the sum of 60li of lawful money to be paid to him by my executor six months next after my decease item I give and bequeath to my niece Eliz Thorp the sum of 30li of lawful money to be paid to her by my executor six months next after my decease item I give and bequeath to my brother Wm Rayner and his son Wm Rayner all my wearing apparel to be equally devised between them item I give and bequeath to my brother and sisters all my household furniture goods and chattels whatsoever and wheresoever to be equally divided between them item likewise I bequeath all the household linen to be equally divided between them item all the residue and remainder of my estate lands tenements etc. and all other properties of what kind soever to me appertaining (except before reserved) I give devise and bequeath (after my just debts and funeral charges are paid) to my nephew Wm Rayner and his heirs forever lastly and I do hereby constitute and appoint my aforesaid nephew Wm Rayner to be whole and sole executor of this my last will and testament requesting my said nephew to execute the same according to my true intent and meaning without any reserve in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the 16.5.24GeoIII mark Jas Rayner signed sealed published and declared by the within named testator Jas Rayner to be his last will and testament in the presence of us who have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto in the presence of the said testator and of each other Wm Bott Jeff Cook Thos Paskell
