whereas Thos Wyatt of Dunmoe singleman in the county of Essex salesman son of Thos Wyatt Ethedred his wife of Saffron Walden in the county aforesaid and Mary Ludgater singlewoman daughter of Robt Ludgater sen of Coggeshall Magna in the county of Essex fellmonger having declared their intentions of taking each other in marriage before several public meetings of this people of god called quakers in Halsted and Coggeshall Magna in the county of Essex according to the good order used among them whose proceedings therein after a deliberate consideration thereof with regard unto the righteous law of god and example of his people recorded in the scriptures of truth in that cause were approved by the said meetings they appearing clear of all others and having consent of parents and relations and others therein concerned now these are to certify all whom it may concern that for the full accomplishing of their said intentions this 13.9.1698 they the said Thos Wyatt and Mary Ludgater aforesaid both appearing in a public assembly of the aforesaid people and others met together for that purpose in their public meeting place at Coggeshall Magna in the county of Essex and in a solemn manner he the said Thos Wyatt taking the said Mary Ludgater by the hand did openly declare as followeth friends in the dread and in the presence of the lord I Thos Wyatt take this my friend Mary Ludgater to be my wife ye are my witnesses that I promise by the lord's assistance to be unto her a loving kind and tender husband until the lord shall please to separate us by death and then and there in the said assembly the said Mary Ludgater aforesaid did in like manner declare as followeth friends in the fear of the lord and in the presence of this assembly whom I take to be my witnesses I Mary Ludgater take this my friend Thos Wyatt to be my husband promising by the lord's assistance to be unto him a loving and faithful wife until it please the lord to separate us by death and the said Thos Wyatt and Mary Ludgater aforesaid as a further confirmation thereof did then and there to these presents set their hand and we whose names are hereunto subscribed being present among others at the solemnizing of their said marriage and subscription in manner aforesaid as witnesses hereunto have also to these presents subscribed our names the day and year above written Thos Wyatt Mary Ludgater Robt Ludgater Etheldred Wyatt Margt Ludgater Jn Ludgater Wm Ludgater Wm Grom Sarah Burnet Sam Clarke Rich Shortland Ann Guyon Isaac Hobard Thos Whitaker Eliz Evens Zach Wyat Jas Wyat Zedekiah Wyat Steph Burnet Robt Ludgater Thos Ludgater Isaac Ludgater Jn Fryitt Hannah Wyat Sarah Groom Ann Isaac Robt Townsend Eliz Goldsmith Wm Cook Sarah Ludgater Frances Ludgater Sarah Clark Martha Anthony Jn Clark Edw Mines sen Andrew Hills Isaac Anthony Robt Evens Rachel Carter Jn Garret Thos Garret Isaac Garret Edw Mines jun
