whereas Sam Greedly of Haverell in the county of Suffolk and Sarah Lawrance of Kelvedon in the county of Essex propounded their intentions of marriage unto several meetings of the people of god called quakers in Earls Colne and Halsted and the meetings having made inquiry concerning them and finding them clear and free from all other persons and nothing appearing to hinder the said intentions of marriage the said meetings gave their consent in the matter these are therefore to certify all whom it doth or may concern that for the full accomplishment of their said intentions the said Sam Greedly and Sarah Lawrance did come into our public meeting house in Kelvedon in the county aforesaid upon the 20.2.1687 and in a public assembly then and there met in our presence did signify their then taking each other in marriage pronouncing these words following or words to the like effect with an audible voice viz the said Sam Greedly taking the said Sarah Lawrance by the hand said in the sence (sic possibly presence) of the lord I take this my friend S Lawrance (to be my wife) promising to be a loving and tender husband until the lord please to separate us by death then the said Sarah Lawrance taking the said Sam Greedly by the hand said friends in the fear of the lord and in the presence of his people I Sarah Lawrance take this my friend Sam Greedly to be my husband promising to be unto him a loving wife until the lord please to separate us by death and for the better confirmation of this their said marriage the parties above named have hereunto first subscribed their own names and we who were then and there present were witnesses that they were truly so married Sam Greedly Sarah Greedly Dan Greedly Thos Stammers Jn Baily Jn Friet Jacob Baker Jn Bangs Salmon Jn Raven Mary Baker Mary Bayly Mary Stamers Hannah Fryit Sarah Greedly Susan Raven Sarah Candler Martha Ludgater Eliz Salmon Edw Eatney Jn Deledike Jn Chandler Joseph Rallet Jonas Cockerton Jn Isaac Jn Baker Martha Guyon Eliz Chandler Thos Purcas Jeptha Childe Jn Clarke Thos Bowle Rich Cornwell
