whereas Jn Baker of Witham in the county of Essex cordwinder and Mary Cockerton the younger of Kelvedon in the county aforesaid propounded their intentions of marriage unto several meetings of the people of god called quakers in Earls Colne and Halsted and the meetings having made inquiry concerning them and finding them clear and free from all other persons and nothing appearing to hinder their said intentions of marriage the said meetings gave their consent in the matter these are therefore to certify all whom it doth or may concern that for the full accomplishment of their said intentions the said Jn Baker and Mary Cockerton aforesaid did come into our public meeting house in Kelvedon in the county aforesaid upon the 24.11.1686 and in a public assembly then and there met in our presence did signify their then taking each other in marriage pronouncing these words following or words to the like effect with an audible voice viz the said Jn Baker taking the said Mary Cockerton by the hand said friends in the fear of the lord and the presence of this assembly I this day take Mary Cockerton to be my wife and further do promise to be unto her a loving and faithful husband until the lord separate us by death then the said Mary Cockerton taking the said Jn Baker by the hand said friends I Mary Cockerton take this my friend Jn Baker to be my husband and with the assistance of god promise to be unto him a loving and faithful wife until the lord separate us by death and for the better confirmation of this their said marriage the parties above named have hereunto first subscribed their own names and we who were then and there present were witnesses that they were so married Jn Baker Mary Baker Hen Baker Jonas Cockerton Jn Raven Jn Deledike Thos Stamers Jn Furly Edw Eatny Rich Casse Hugh Nickalls Wm Ludgater Jn Tottrig Thos Turner Mary Brewer Jn Ludgater Martha Ludgater Sarah Lawrance Ursula Hunely Jane Crowe Eliz Cockerton Martha Baker Mary Bunny Rebecca Garritt Rachel Froster
