sketch plan

28.4.1794 Wm Clarke obtains licence " to erect a cottage on the waste leading from Earls Colne to Coggeshall and enclose 11.5p of land in length and 1.5p in breadth, fronting the free tenement of Thos Osborne (now Frances Hills ) and next the lands of Thos Fenn and Filmer Honywood - by the annual rent of 8d. I have here given a sketch of this enclosure, together with the land heretofore of the wid Cockerell from a survey taken 1810 which is more accurate than the Commutation map or the old Terrier. This is properly in the Priory manor and from the manner in which the grant was made to Wm Clarke in 1794 it cannot be claimed by the lord as copyhold, but mr Honywood acknowledges free tenure and pays the rent of 8d
