we present ourselves to be offenders against the rate made at the quarter sessions held on the 6.4.1598 for servants wages and desire the favour of the court item we certify that the rates for servants for husbandry be too small and think it requisite to augment them as follows a bailiff of husbandry taking charge and able to discharge the same by the year 50s and for livery 10s the best ploughman and carter 50s and for livery 10s the best woman servant being able to cook or able to take charge of a household 26s8d livery 6s8d for all the other rates for men servants in husbandry we allow them and likewise for women servants item we certify the rates for labourers in husbandry to be too small and think it requisite to augment them as follows from hollowmas to candlemas with meat and drink by the day 3d without meat and drink 8d all the rest of the year haytime and harvest excepted with meat and drink 4d without 10d and for the rest of the rates mentioned we rule we do allow them
