Wm Mott and Ralph Crefield esq two justices of the peace did send one Jn Quilter with his children under the age of 7yr from Earls Colne to Colne Engaine the place of his last settlement where he was a poor inhabitant and had one of his children during the time of his settlement there placed out at the charge of the parish of Colne Engaine inhabitants of Colne Engaine appeal on full hearing it appears that Quilter hired a house in the said parish of Earls Colne at the yearly rent of 20s of one Ballard and lived there above the space of a month court therefore of the opinion that Quilter is a settled person in Earls Colne and ordered to be conveyed from Colne Engaine to Earls Colne
