As a jeep was passing, I did the rest of the journey in it and got to Tseminyu in the early afternoon. I was met by the dobashi and was escorted by him round the village. |

Like Angami villages Tseminyu is split up into Khels and there are a number of derelict village (37) walls. There is however at present only one old gate and this is not at all carved. Mills refers to it at p. 48 of 'Rengma Nagas'. The houses also strike one as much smaller and their architecture is entirely different. They do no have the massive frontal panels of the Angami houses while a new and common feature is a suavely curving porch. Stone graves adjoin the houses while outside the village there are numerous monoliths. Rengmas seem however to prefer slender tapering stones to the thick squat boulders which Angamis choose. Instead of keeping grain in great baskets Rengmas have special hamlets with grain houses on piles. |
