text: 16th May '47. Halted at Phek. Spent the morning going into question of water supply for Hospital, School and village. If a small hydro-electric scheme is combined with the water supply, the following are needed:
text: 6" pipes 1100' ft.
text: 4" pipes 1200' ft.
text: 2" pipes 5000' ft.
text: 1" and under 2000' ft.
text: We might manage the water supply but cost of carriage would kill the hydro-electric scheme. The water supply is badly needed for Hospital, School and village and somehow we ought to manage it. Satakha School have preference as only 800' ft. is needed to distribute to hostels etc. and they will carry this pipe from Sakhabama I.B.
text: There were complaints that the drought had killed the dry land rice. Indian corn is good.
text: The Assam Rifles arrived at midday. Went round the village in the afternoon.
