26th May '47. The Naga Scouts feeling cheerful in the middle of the night, started to sing a war song. This woke up the Assam Rifles who naturally thought they were being attacked and opened fire with Bren guns and rifles. It died down in a few minutes. |

Subadar Motilal and two sections went off to make another attempt to burn TSUPURE. By 10 A.M. (leaving at 6 A.M.) we saw smoke from the direction it was said to be in. On their return they reported the resistance again had been only token and the armed Nagas in the village dispersed under Bren gun long range fire and rifle grenades. One sentry only was killed as far as could be gathered. The village was only about 70 - 80 houses, very pleasantly situated near a small stream. There were about 17 new heads hanging on to bamboos in the village. |

No definate information about the other villages in this area could be found out. Probably they are in the direction of WUI, but in any case too far off to reach at this time of year. A village called THORU to the North East is also mentioned. |

While these two sections were away looting, Mutongre unasked arrived to loot Pangre and proceeded to do so in spite of two warning shots fired over their heads. |

In the evening we gave Pangre a Brock's benefit with keny lights, tracer bullets and so on, and the troops and Nagas had spear throwing, a small pig hunt and a rat chase. |
