(77) 6/7/1936 In the morning Castles took me to the colliery. it was very hot but we had ponies to ride up the mountain. I saw the installation of the suspension train and the narrow-gauge cable railway which removes the coal from the mine and takes it down the mountain. Fortunately we did not enter the mine. The stream which runs through the valley is completely red. The rocks must contain a lot of iron. Castles took some photographs of me which turned out well. Towards noon we returned home and did not do much afterwards because we had a real downpour. |
