It is only said that it came out of a big pond. Wakching has never kept mithans and when Chinyang was young they were hardly known around here. Most people were afraid to eat the meat and even today it is considered dangerous to slaughter a mithan. It is the animal of the Angs. Eating its meat can cause leprosy (if one kills a great Ang one also is in danger of getting leprosy). Even today some households, Shankok's for example, do not eat meat of mithan. Chi too supposedly had no mithan formerly. These came from Mon and Hangnyu. |
