singing and setting up of poles |
text: |
A solemn chorus follows this song with the meaning that the O-ya-bu should come and with it the heads of enemies. This is like the singing in of the new year. Then the older men of the Ang clan and the Yemba step around the bamboo pole in front of the Ang house. Here it should be mentioned that the pole to the right of the Ang house door's opening as seen from the outside at which the Ou-ba had sacrificed to Hayang, had been cut down this morning and a new pole had been set up to the left of the door. At this the Ou-ba today performed the same ceremony. (67) The first pole was "for the Ang", the second one for the entire village including all Ben people. |
