text: The thunderstorm had cleared the air and it is pleasantly cool. On arrival in Shiong I saw that a tall tree with splendid red blossoms had been struck by lightning immediately next to the upper morung. The path below leading directly past it had been closed off on both sides with bamboo poles and three old men are sitting in the morung cooking rice. In addition there are several younger boys lying around sleeping on the pounding boards. There is hardly any time of day when a Konyak does not enjoy stretching out and immediately going off to sleep.
