text: When I came to the Bala this afternoon, Dzemang and several young men were sitting there. Dzemang was splitting thin jungle bamboos to make a basket for catching the pigs at the Oulingbu when they are brought to the morung. Tomorrow people will go to the forest to collect pan leaves, the core of banana stalks and lai-mei leaves. The boys will bring in the first two, the girls the latter, but this division of labour is not kept if a household does not have a boy or a girl.
