beliefs about the human soul |
text: |
In the morning Dzingben dictated a story to me about the moon, and two songs (see Notebook 12 p. 128). That is a tedious task and takes much time. Later I touched on the question of the human soul again. It is called 'ya-ha' (shadow) and under certain circumstance it can leave the human body. Sometimes one of the gashis which lurk in jungle and fields captures a man's soul and then he gets sick and a sacrifice has to be made. The air is inhabited by Yong-was which also are hostile towards humans. The concepts about these Yong was are rather vague. Sometimes they are evoked together with Ghawang. |
