A group of grownup girls and another one of small girls was dancing on the platform below the Ang's house. The dance was just like the one I had seen in Chingtang. The moon shone brightly on the white cloth which they had washed especially for the feast and it reflected in the dew-covered bamboo poles of the platform. Flames gleamed from some houses but no dancing was going to take place in the morungs any more tonight as everyone was too tired from the day's efforts. The dance which the Thepong had performed in the afternoon was the 'Great Morung Dance' which is only danced in years when a head had been brought home. |
