the Ouliengbu or spring festival |

The magic moon night was followed by a dull morning. Clouds of fog moved in over Wakching and it even rained for a short while but not much was happening in the morung any way, and therefore the weather hardly affected the feast. They would not have danced in the rain as otherwise all ornaments would suffer too much. The men have nothing to do apart from the occupation with their dress, but the women of course have to fetch water, even on such feast days. On the other hand the ceremonies are much less demanding on them and while the men dance for hours, they are sitting on the platforms watching. |
