The root of a creeper, "wei", is dug out and cut into small pieces. That is done by the old men. The pieces of wei are then boiled in a pot with water. At the same time the bundle of goat's hair is put into the pot and boiled. After one or two hours the pot is taken from the fire, but the goat's hair remains for 24 hours in the water. Then the drying is completed. The same process is used for drying cane rings. It is entirely done by men. (2) Some parts of the bundles are sometimes covered with leaves, strongly tied round the bundles. By this process the covered parts remain undyed. |
