The Pepetsuma and Vihotsuma khels had a bitter dispute over the subject of cattle path. The result of the case will be found in Political case No. 11 of 1917. |

The dobashi Thepfuyagwe had got into trouble with another man's wife. He committed adultery with her and the injured husband assaulted him. I dismissed the case as both sides had done wrong and threatened severe penalties upon whichever reopened the quarrel. |

The two Vihotsuma clans raised the question of the house sites which were vacated by order of Mr. Davis (reinforced later by one of Mr. Reid) for rioting. Both sides, or some of both sides, declare that they have now settled their differences and wish to go back, and will undertake to behave. Old Luvanya however, whose only son was killed in the riot, was so bitter about it when I asked him, that I am satisfied that it would not be advisable to let the people go back to their sites as long as he is alive. As Mr. Reid's rough plan - the only one I could find, does not show clearly what land has to be left vacant I have made a plan of the defacto clearing as it is now. The houses entered in red ink are actually in existence. |
