This part of the old Sema Road has been very greatly improved since I last went over it. I have never seen it so good. At the same time I do not think it has had very much attention for the last fortnight or so. |

On the way I settled the land dispute between Kilo-phuyemi and Khukiya and fixed a boundary. The case was a long standing one and a partial boundary had been fixed by Khupu. It was a bad one and Khukiya admitted that they had given Khupu 8 pigs and asked him to favour them. Khupu naively told Kilomi this and said that they must not mind land that really belonged to them being given to Khukiya as otherwise he (Khupu) would get shame from Khukiya. Khukiya admitted that they had no right to the land given to them and it is clear that the boundary was not laid as Mr. Reid ordered it to be laid. I therefore abolished Khupu's boundary and laid an entirely new one. The boundary between Kilomi (Phuyemi) and Khukiya will run thus from the main stream Ie-woki, between Khukiya and Kilomi, and which is the boundary lower down, up the stream called Zungethi-woki to the bridle path thence along the bridle path towards Satakha until the Nullah called Mbebe is reached. Up the nullah Mbebe until the nullah called Shekuyebe-woki. This nullah is the boundary between the land of Kilomi and Satakha. |

For this year the boundary as laid by Khupu will be observed as far as crops are concerned, below the bridle path, while above the bridle path the temporary boundary as laid by Asapu will be observed. Thereafter the land will go as now divided by me. |

On the road nearly the whole of Khuivi came down about a theft case. While waiting for me the village on the top of the hill caught fire, but most of them waited on preferring litigation to saving their property or other peoples'. |
